Alasdair Douglas & Co. was founded in 2002 to assist leading US insurance companies in risk and portfolio management and convergence of insurance and capital markets.

AD&C Principals invented and patented "insurance securitisation" and "loss mitigation" institutional funding instruments.
In addition, they created the first "AAA" rated bondholder insurance for non-investment grade and unrated tax-exempt US municipal bonds in 1989.
AD&C Principals have a long history of acting as Municipal Legal Counsels, Municipal Bankers and Municipal Project finance specialists.
With passage of US Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (2017), AD&C Principals set about to develop a new approach to municipal economic development, implementing a systemic approach to Qualified Opportunity Zones and municipal finance.
Adopting the international O|Zone™ Protocol, AD&C Principals developed the Port Authority Opportunity Zone™ Initiative for private | public | partnerships of regional collaborations of counties and provinces globally.

In 2002, AD&C partnered with RW Smith, one of the leading US Municipal | Government Fixed Income Interdealer Brokers which acted as agent or riskless principal in the purchase and sale of fixed income securities for registered brokers/dealers, dealer banks, Municipal Securities Dealers, sophisticated Municipal Market Professionals, and institutional customers. Acting in the capacity of interdealer broker (in the municipal market this role is known as that of a “broker’s broker”) RWS provided anonymity, information flow, extended distribution, enhanced liquidity to the secondary market, and order matching.
AD&C subsequently acquired RWS until AD&C exited this traditional market in 2011.
AD&C has been a member of Investors Guaranty Global Alliance™ since inception. Other IGGA entities have included technology providers in high speed data distribution for global markets, legal entity counterparty data, data cleaning, global interdealer broker market data distribution, algorithmic risk portfolio analytics and a range of regulatory technologies and capital funding innovations.
Since 2012, AD&C has evolved and expanded as principal innovation collaborators associated with Investors Guaranty Global Alliance™ affiliates, IGF Act Companies ("IAC"), Alliance iii.o technologies and Lighthouse Philanthropies.
